TitleCopy letter, Percy George Hamnall Boswell, to Louis S.B. Leakey, Hotel de Vere, 17-18 Eglinton Crescent, Edinburgh
Date17 February 1936
DescriptionHe returns the draft of Leakey's proposed letter to Nature. It is not for him to advise Leakey, but his opinion is that it will not help his case or reputation. He is sending the slide also to the Edinburgh address. The material resembles the lower series of nodular that Wayland and Boswell collected, rather than surface concretions. But this cannot be confirmed by minerals as the sample is too small. His colleagues working out the minerals of various samples from Kanam West are busy and the work may take several months. He should not advise Leakey to base conclusions on the matrix of the mandible, since such concretions may form at any time subsequent to the formation of the bed.
