| Description | Working in cooperation with the Petroleum Warfare Research station, Alexander Oliver Rankine explains how the burning of butane can rapidly clear fog from airfields. He carries out the experiments at Empress Hall, Earl's Court, London from April 1943-December 1944, where a wind tunnel was built within a room that measured 200 feet long, 150 feet broad, and 70 feet high. Images. pp.3-4. He includes his investigation of convective heat flow produced by winds across burner lines. He compares the result of a model to a full scale installation. Pages 28-29 are handwritten. He concludes with seven recommendation relating to the type of fuel used to the width apart which the burning lines should be based on location.
