DateNovember 1990
DescriptionLunch in Chernobyl Village with the Scientific Director Professor Senin [standing] and members of his team.

Caption on attached sheet states; ' I understand that he was the first "scientist" to arrive the day after the accident and having had much experience of nuclear weapons testing at Novaya Zemlya and Semipalatinsk, was in charge of population dose assessment and supervision of evacuation.

Some of the others round the table are, from left, Dr Svetlana Novikova of the Vernadsky Institute (looking at the camera); next, Dr Alexey Konoplev of the Typhoon Project (looking across the table); next a staff medical officer; then on Senin's left looking towards Novikova, a staff zoologist (including supervising the cattle farm). The girl nearer on the right looking at the camera is Dr Nelly Victorova, in charge of the laboratory in Pripyat studying Hot Particles and their effects on flora and fauna. Lastly on the right, looking at the camera, is John Garland of the Harwell Environmental Physics Group.

Background level in the room is around 3.5 microSv. '
