Title | Biographical notes, 'C V Boys', by Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton |
Creator | Egerton; Sir; Alfred Charles Glyn (1886-1959); British chemist |
Date | 1944 |
Description | A brief account of some aspects of the life and character of Charles Vernon Boys, based upon personal recollections. The text commences 'Even the ablest of men do most of their notable work before forty...' Egerton notes Boys's ability to explain real-life physics in a simple manner and notes his 'whimsical sense of humour' and practical jokes.
The notes were produced for the use of Robert John Strutt, 4th Baron Rayleigh, to aid in the compiling of his Royal Society Obituary Notice of C V Boys. Rayleigh has added brief marginal annotations in pencil, indicating useful material. The manuscript is headed with the inscription: 'Please return to me at Roy. Society when finished with. A.C. Egerton'. |
