DescriptionIncludes letters to David Dalgliesh, leader of the advance party at Halley Bay in 1955-56 and Colonel Robert Arthur 'Robin' Smart as leader of the main party, concerning cypher books held by the Halley Bay base leader. Also includes a copy of an Oath of Alliegance signed by Smart in South Georgia in December 1956, and a document confirming the handover of the cyphers from Smart to Joseph MacDowell upon MacDowell taking charge of the expedition in January 1958. All marked 'Secret'.
