Description | She could not write as the Queen [Victoria] had not seen Kater's calotype, but she is pleased with them. She has marked those in his book which she would very much like to have if the Prince thinks them well done. They remind him perfectly of those places. She will send one of the busts of the children, if it not too much trouble, but for the moment Marianne returns his book with the Queen's marks on it. She asks him not to send her any pictures at present as the Queen has taken her share; at some future time Marianne will ask for some, but cannot do them justice now. If there is any expense in employing people, Edward should let her know, as the Queen is obliged to him for taking the pictures for her, and would not want to cause him expense as well as trouble. Marianne always says this as a general rule to those who do things for the Queen. |
