Title | Letter from J F W [John Frederick William] Herschel, to 'Dear Sir' [Edward Kater] |
Creator | Herschel; Sir; John Frederick William (1792 - 1871); astronomer and mathematician |
Recipient | Kater; Edward (1816-1866); British photographer |
Date | [March 1840] |
Description | He returns the signed certificate [of candidacy], but thinks it will be disallowed by Council [of the Royal Society] for want of a place of residence; a club would not be sufficient. The title of his paper and its date of communication should be under the proper head. In a postscript, Herschel draws Kater's attention to the asterix at the bottom of the certificate. |
