Description | She has not been able to avail herself of Captain Kater's offer to look over her manuscript. She sends one part in which Kater and his hygrometer are referred to, and she would not wish to publish without his approval. Once he has commented, she asks that the text is delivered back under two covers, the outer to the Earl of Rosse at Parsonstown, as he is one of the postmasters general. The rest of 'Harry and Lucy' is being read to his children by a scientific friend; they are just the right age. She is pleased that Mrs Kater's history for young children has gone to the press and she thinks it excellent on what she has read. Mrs Kater may have heard from Captain Beaufort who will be engaged with the marriage of Edgeworth's sister Sophy to Captain Barry Fox. She describes Fox's character and family and is happy that their respective families are suited and that Sophy will be nearby after marriage. She gives news of Lucy Edgeworth and asks after the health of Captain Kater. |
