TitleLetter from W [William] Kitchiner, to Captain [Henry] Kater
CreatorKitchiner; William (1778-1827); British epicure and writer
RecipientKater; Henry (1777-1835); British geodicist and metrologist
Date1826 [?]
DescriptionHe was sorry to hear of Kater's indisposition. He had hoped to hear how the panoratic behaved and he asks Kater to bring it to try Kitchiner's large 30-inch aperture telescope. He will make diagrams to show what it can do with double stars, and what Beauclerc will do with a single E.G. [eye glass] of 10th of an inch focus. He thinks this will magnify 460 times. He hopes for Kater's opinion on these matter and invites him when he has an evening to spare. In a postscript, he notes a panoratic which is at Kater's disposal.
