Title | Letter from Edward Sabine, to Captain [Henry] Kater, York Gate |
Creator | Sabine; Sir Edward (1788-1883); Irish army officer and physicist |
Recipient | Kater; Henry (1777-1835); British geodicist and metrologist |
Date | no date |
Description | He writes to Kater, in reply to his latest note. In November he put the first 276 pages of his book into Dr. [Thomas] Young's hands for the Board of Longitude, hoping to have suggestions from members of the Board. Pages 276-360 were put into Young's hands later, before the Board's February meeting. Sabine thinks it a misfortune that any member of the Board should have been unaware that his complete report with results were available to them from that time, and remained there until July or August, when Sabine received them back, on Dr. Young's departure. |
