TitleCopy letter from Edward Neville da Costa Andrade, to Professor [William Thomas] Gordon
RecipientGordon; William Thomas (1884-1950); Scottish palaeontologist and palaeobotanist
Date2 July 1941
DescriptionWrites to Gordon about Kathleen Lonsdale's request for Gordon's D. 24 diamond. Recalls that the diamond was lent to him by Sir Robert Robertson in 1934 and has since been returned. Mentions there was correspondence about it at the time but is certain it had been returned, as is his assistant. He is unable to check the correspondence to confirm as his laboratory has been completely destroyed by a parachute mine. States that if it turns out he is still responsible for the diamond, they can come to an agreement for its replacement after the war, when he will receive the promised compensation for the destruction.
