OtherInfoNoted for his his investigation on the structure and permeability of cell membranes and his critical examination and further development of cytochemical methods applied to the study of localisation of alkaline phosphatases in tissues of vertebrates and invertebrates in relation to their secretory activity.
His study of the functional relationship between the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells, carried out by methods of enucleation and cross transfer of nuclei in Amoeba proteus and Amoeba discoides, has direct bearing upon the problem of cell differentiation.
His work on anti-cancer agents was stimulus to others.
