Admitted Fellow of the College of Doctors of Law, London (1785); built up a large practice in Ecclesiastical and Admiralty courts; Gentleman of the Privy Chamber in ordinary (1812-1827); Advocate General, High Court of the Admiralty; Chancellor of the diocese of Lincoln; published a poem called 'Another Cain'.
