OtherInfo | As a member of the committee to discuss linguistics and the development of a universal language, Pigot joined Robert Hooke (FRS 1663) and John Ray (FRS 1667), for example. Pigot himself was reportedly sceptical towards the concept of a universal language but still joined Andrew Paschall and Richard Towneley in translating a text by Hooke on the design for his watch mechanism. He also worked on acoustics during his time at Wadham College, where he conducted experiments with William Noble. |
