Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Mr [George Francis] Scott-Elliot |
Date | 16 December 1895 |
Description | Foster explains that when they met at Trinity College, he had not read his letter in detail due to having sent it on to Sir John Kirk, but that it has now been returned with comments.
He believes it is evident that Scott-Elliot has not met the terms of his agreement with Kirk to prepare two 'premier sets' of as near to equal value as possible, which are to be disposed of by the Royal Society. He clarifies that the matter of equal value does not preclude unique specimens going in one set; but Foster notes that he has not done this, but has instead prepared a first first and left the remainder to form the second. Given the circumstances, Foster feels he can say no more until the matter has been before the President and Council of the Royal Society, the next meeting of which is due on 16 January 1896. |
