Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Richard Tetley Glazebrook, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 5 June 1896 |
Description | Harrison received Glazebrook's letter this morning and has sent a card round to the Physical and Chemical Committee telling them that the date of the meeting is postponed to the 23rd. Harrison thinks the regular summonses had better go out nearer the day of the meeting to avoid confusion.
There are two papers to mention; one by Dr [John Hall] Gladstone on 'The Relation between the Refraction of the Elements and their Chemical Equivalents', which has been accepted and authorised for the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' by Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], and put down to be read next Thursday. The other is a paper by Professor Jagadish Chandra Bose of Calcutta 'On the Determination of the Wave Length of Electric Radiation by Diffraction Grating', which has been accepted by Lord Rayleigh for consideration, who prefers to refer it to the Sectional Committee as to the question of putting it into print or inserting it in 'Proceedings'. |
