Title | Copy letter from Henry E Armstrong, to Sir Walter Peace, Agent-General for Natal, 28 Victoria Street, S.W. |
Date | 17 June 1898 |
Description | Have received Peace's letter on the subject of the proposed International Catalogue of Scientific Literature, in which he asks about the limit of time given for the collection of information; and whether it will be necessary to send a copy of each scientific work or pamphlet which is is suggested should be entered in the Catalogue.
It is hoped that the material for indexing should be collected and forwarded to the Central Office as quickly as possible. It is hoped that it will be possible to issue the yearly volumes, in which the progress made in each of the sciences is recorded, within very few weeks after the close of the year dealt with.
As to sending the literature, it is hoped that each regional bureau (collecting centre) will be able to forward the material ready for incorporation in the Catalogue in which case the Literature will not be needed at the Central Office.
The nature of the Catalogue shall be decided at the second International Conference when it will be easier to answer such questions. |
