TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary to the Admiralty, Whitehall, S.W.
Date29 March 1899
DescriptionIn 1896 and 1897 the Lords of the Admiralty allowed Dr G H Fowler to occupy a berth on board H.M.S. "Research" for the purpose of making collections of the Plankton of the Faeroe Channel.
Fowler would like to make a similar expedition this summer. The President and Council [of the Royal Society] are convinced of the scientific importance of the investigation but are not able to offer Fowler the facilities he requires. Asks whether the Admiralty would be able to assist him in the summer of 1900 on board H.M.S. "Research".
