Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Arthur William Rucker, Secretary, Royal Society, Hotel zur Rose, Wiesbaden, Germany |
Date | 10 October 1899 |
Description | Yesterday Harrison sent Rucker a note from Sir Courtenay Boyle, with a memorandum of what Harrison had said to him in reply. Harrison now learns Boyle has no free day before Friday and that Boyle is accordingly waiting to hear from Rucker before making any other arrangements for visiting Kew.
Has learnt today that the President has arranged with Sir Clements [Robert] Markham for a meeting of the Joint Antarctic Committee on Monday. Explains that this clashes with a visit to Kew Observatory by such members of the General Board of the NPL [National Physical Laboratory] as chosen that afternoon.
Has sent Rucker copies of all the notices of fixtures which have been made since Rucker left. The only Chairmen from whom Harrison has heard concerning meetings of the NPL sub-committees are [William Edward] Ayrton and Sir W Roberts-Austen. |
