Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Robert Williams Wood, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 1 October 1901 |
Description | The Society is putting in hand the reproduction of the illustrations to Wood's paper on the anomalous dispersion of sodium vapour, which is to be published in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society'. Proposes to make the illustrations into three plates with two black and white spectra and one coloured plate. Encloses a rough plan of plate II [not enclosed]. The coloured plate will be put in hand at once but the half tone plates will not be started for a fortnight or so. Asks if Wood has any instructions for the matter or any negatives to forward.
The Society has some lantern slides which Wood left with them and these will be used to assist the engraver. The engraver points out that some of the slides show black flutings on the dark background at right angles to those on the bright spectrum portions. These are lost in the prints and the engraver would like to know if they are to be shown. |
