Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor William Abbott Herdman, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 7 October 1901 |
Description | In addition to the other questions concerning the Zoology Committee which Harrison has mentioned to Herdman, there is the matter of Dr Simpson's two papers: 'Preliminary Note on a New Method of Reproduction in the Case of the Genus Amoeba' and 'The Relation of Binary Fission and Conjugation to Variation'. The non-acceptance of these two papers ought to be a formal recommendation to Herdman's Committee. If Herdman decides to circulate a minute to the members of the committee instead of holding a meeting, he should include the subject of Dr Simpson's papers. Lister was the referee who reported on the papers and Harrison has Herdman's note of 30 May stating that the papers should not be accepted for reading.
Postscript dated 8 October; Harrison has received Herdman's letter and is sending round a card to the Zoology Committee asking if they can attend a meeting on 23 or 24 October. |
