| Description | In response to their letter of 12 May, Harrison explains that no Academy or other body has the right to form a constituent of the International Association of Academies, due to meet at the Royal Society at Whitsuntide. The composition of the Association is that of the Academies by which it was formed, with additional others who have been invited to become consitituent Academies. If an organisation is proposed by a member, two thirds of the existing members must agree, and so Harrison recommends this as the approach should they wish it. In the meantime as a consequence of the rules explained, the Royal Society are unable to invite the Royal Society of Literature to be represented at the General Assembly of the Association. |
