Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Alfred George Greenhill, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 20 May 1904 |
Description | Harrison writes concerning corrections to the proof of Greenhill's Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society paper, communicating Professor Joseph Larmor's request that he dispense with the change in the position of the equation numbers and that he be accepting of the printers merely being asked to remove the lines of dots which he dislikes. Larmor suggests the printers' unfamiliarity with Greenhill's proposed arrangement may make the result unsatisfactory and lead to later expense.
The heavy cost of alterations to date is noted, but Harrison states that they will try to get the printers to complete the remainder of corrections and alterations to his satisfaction. Their mistakes thus far have been due to the printer's proceeding according to usual practice and their misunderstandings of his manuscript. |
