Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Right Honorable Lord Knutsford |
Date | 16 March 1889 |
Description | Explains the proposed visit by Professor Harry Govier Seeley to Cape Colony and the Orange River Free State during the summer, to investigate the fossil reptilian remains found there, having received financial assistance from the Government Grant for scientific research. Foster has been directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society to express their hope that Knutsford may be able to aid Seeley's work by making the purpose of his visit known to the Government of Cape Colony, who could then perhaps lend occasional support by blasting the rocks and providing transport for heavy specimens.
The matter is left in Knutsford's hands, but they only wish to assure him that help given to Professor Seeley will be of great scientific advantage. |
