Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor John Wesley Judd, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 23 June 1905 |
Description | The Society has received from the Board of Education a translation of a note sent to the Foreign Office by the German Ambassador suggesting that His Majesty's Government should be represented at a Conference to be held at Berlin in August next for the consideration of amendments to the Strassburg Seismological Convention of 1903, recommended by the Committee which met at Frankfort-on-Main in October 1904. The Board of Education ask for any observations which the Society desire to make, particularly whether they think it necessary or desirable that the Government be represented at the proposed conference. Sir A Geikie thinks a meeting of the Seismology Committee should be held before the next Council on 6 July. Suggests 29 June and queries if Judd could attend.
A copy of the documents has been sent to Professor Schuster, the British delegate at Frankfurt last year. Can show Judd the original documents if he calls. |
