| Description | Acknowledges Lucas' letter of the previous day, 30262/1905, enclosing a copy of a telegram form the Commissioner of the Uganda Protectorate, and expressing Mr Lyttelton's desire for an early answer from the Royal Society to the Colonial Office letter of the 9 August.
Summarizes discussion of the proposed removal of the laboratory from Entebbe at the last meeting of the Tropical Diseases Committee. The Committee think such a plan could be disastrous and suggest the simpler plan of housing the monkeys in fly proof cages.
Presently the Society is on vacation and the members of the Tropical Disease Committee are nearly all absent. Under these circumstances it will not be possible to hold a meeting for the consideration of the Colonial Office letter of 9 August for some weeks. Unless some much more convincing evidence can be brought before the Committee for the necessity of removing the Laboratory, Harrison feels sure the Committee will strongly recommend the laboratory stays where it is. Sees no reason why the steamer Mackinnon should not be employed to carry mails as the General Manager of the Railway requests. |
