Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to [Edwin Ray] Lankester, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 25 September 1905 |
Description | Harrison has given him Lankester's letter with the proof of [Edward Alfred] Minchin's paper. Geikie agrees with Lankester as to the desirability of as speedy publication as possible for the reports of the Roysal Society's men in Africa and elsewhere. They have also to think of the official reports and there is a decided objection to the multiplication of separate reports each containing only a few sheets. Suggests as a compromise that they print Minchin's paper in the next 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' and that it also appears in the 'Report of the Sleeping Sickness Commission'. If Lankester agrees to this Harrison will leave the corrected proof of Minchin's paper set up afresh in the 'Proceedings' type. The cost of the official Reports is borne by the Government boards concerned. The papers also secure a far wider publicity in the 'Proceedings' than as an official report. |
