Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to the Permanent Administrative Secretary of the Treasury |
Date | 1 December 1905 |
Description | Under consideration of the Secretary's letter of 17 November in reference to the proposed participation of Britain in the International Seismic Association, after consultation with Professor [Arthur] Schuster, the President and Council have ascertained that a meeting will probably be held on the continent next autumn. As far as possible the business of the Committee will be conducted by correspondence, but in the early stages of the proceedings it may be necessary to call the Committee together, besides having a general meeting of the Seismic Association. Though the average expenses for each year may be estimated at £200, they may exceed that in the first year. Suggests £250 an advisable sum for the first year. A fitting description of the item in the estimates would be 'International Seismic Association'. |
