In reply to your letter of the 6th May, I have received authority from the President to issue a card of invitation to Dr Blaxall; but I was instructed to send it under cover to you, and to beg you to explain to Dr Blaxall that the issue of this invitation does not imply the entry of his name upon the permanent list of invitations. We are compelled to give this caution because disappointment is so often caused by a misapprehension of these occasional invitations.' |
