Title | Copy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Dr Wilson |
Date | 20 June 1908 |
Description | Wilson's letter has arrived, as has the roll containing the small map. Regarding the [?] plates, the 750 copies required for the album will be in the hands of Messrs Oliver & Boyd in around a fortnight or less. Messrs West, Newman & Company had first [?] to print off those required for the Meteorological volume. But they have instructions as to the new numbering required for the album.
Geikie is engaged on Wilson's volume, but there is a pressure of work today. The lettering on the backs of the album and portfolio was settled some time ago and no doubt Messrs Oliver & Boyd have made the stamps for them. Had to give up the idea of numbering volumes of the Antarctic Reports. The British Volumes were to be numbered, so they they could be followed on, but Edwin Ray Lankester would not agree, so each subject, whether in one or more volumes stands independently by itself. Wilson's album and portfolio therefore cannot stand as a distinct and unnumbered part of the series of volumes. |
