Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt] |
Date | 23 December 1890 |
Description | In accordance with instruction Rix wrote to Professor Carus-Wilson to ask whether he considered the photographs to illustrate his paper necessary as well as the diagrams, and how they had better be reproduced. Rix did not receive a reply and has just learned from Carus-Wilson's brother that he has been appointed Professor at McGill college. Rix does not think it is any good waiting for an answer from Montreal and has sent the two photographs for an estimate. Some photographic reproduction would probably show the mode of fracture better than a full page wood cut and would probably not cost more. If Rix can obtain a reasonable estimate for two octavo plates he asks if he may have them done. |
