Description | Rix is instructed by Dr Michael Foster the Senior Secretary to lay before Fremantle another request on behalf of the President and Council. A medal has recently ben instituted in memory of the late Charles Darwin, and execution of the dies have been entrusted to Mr Allan Wyon. A proof of the medal has been received from Mr Wyon which is satisfactory. Foster asks if Fremantle might allow this medal to be struck at the Royal Mint and whether this might be done in time for delivery with the other medals. As the matter is pressing Foster shall write to Wyon today to request him to forward the dies to the mint. The medal is to be silver and Foster provides the inscription for Alfred Russel Wallace. |
