| Description | Sir David Bruce has written of his intention to return to England by way of the Nile. Among other things he desires to transport living strains of the trypanosomes which have formed the subject of his recent investigations [into Sleeping Sickness] in Uganda. For this purpose it would be necessary to transport living animals containing these parasites, and Bruce is anxious to send a few monkeys and perhaps goats, under the charge of Seargant Gibbons, who is arranged to leave on the 'Admiral' on the German East African Line. The company does not wish to carry experimental animals, and the London agent has expressed this refusal.
The German government might be induced to make special arrangements with the company in the interests of international science, and the Colonial Office could make such arrangements for the passage. |
