| Description | The correspondence between Mayhew and Sir Archibald Geikie regarding the small collection of rare non-scientific works has been placed in Harrison's hands. The Treasurer, Alfred Bray Kempe, would be glad to meet Mayhew to discuss the matter. The collection was preserved in a locked case a valuable relic of an earlier collection, but have seldom been referred to.
Harrison notices Geikie's letter of 8 August refers to cataloguing the Norfolk collection. He presumes he only meant to refer to the books in the locked case, and not the numerous books belonging to the original Norfolk collection, which are scattered among the ordinary shelves. These are of no particular interest or value.
The original manuscript catalogue of Panizzi is not in possession of the Royal Society. Panizzi probably retained it when the Council declined to print it. Enquires if there is a chance of it being at the British Museum. |
