DescriptionIn response to their letter of 28 February referring to a temporary vacancy in the Indian Meteorological Department, the salary attached to the post of Imperial Meteorologist is Rs 500 rising by annual increments of Rs 50 to Rs 1000 without exchange compensation.

In view of the temporary nature of the post the Secretary of State for India is willing to pay Rs 600 a month for the first year, Rs 650 for the second, and Rs 700 for the third year. A first class passage to India will be provided. A candidate with a good scientific degree is required, and there is some urgency in the matter.
