| Description | Geikie reminds Scott that a year ago he wrote to say that he had further observations to give regarding his objections to Dr [William Napier] Shaw's remarks accompanying the Meteorological reductions of the work of Scott's Antarctic Expedition. Council can only undertake a consideration of the subject when it has the full case. Geikie understands his time and thought have been taken up with the preparations for his new [Terra Nova] expedition.
Although Geikie does not expect the second volume of the 'Discovery's' meteorology will be ready until the end of the year, he could not let Scott leave for the Antarctic without reminding him of the state in which the correspondence was left. The second volume will consist chiefly of plates of the daily observations, but there will be a short introduction and a Preface in which any corrections in the first volume can be made. Geikie is glad to hear of the admirable staff he is gathering for the scientific work. |
