During 1908 we approached you in connection with an enquiry into a disease of the eye, occurring amongst glassworkers, which is the subject of investigation by a Committee of the Royal Society; and the President and Council wish me to ask whether you will now permit a deputation from the Committee to visit you works for the purpose of observing the effect, if any, upon the eye, of the processes peculiar to the manufacture of plate glass, which they have had no opportunity of observing elsewhere.' |
