Description | 'Dear Madam, In reply to your post card, the summary you refer to will be treated as a Proceedings [of the Royal Society] abstract of your full paper which is to appear in the Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]. The abstracts I asked for recently was intended for use at the meeting at which your paper will be read (June 30). The summary is too long for this purpose; but it is not absolutely necessary that you should supply a meeting abstract, and the decision with regard to this matter rests with yourself. As stated in the circular sent to you, a meeting abstract should not exceed 300 words.'
