Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr F [Francis] A [Arthur] Bather FRS |
Date | 1 May 1912 |
Description | 'My first inclination on receipt yesterday of your letter of the 29th April was to ignore it; but inasmuch as it is addressed to me officially by a Fellow of the Society it seems necessary to write to say that your suggestion, that I [?] deliberately make distinctions between authors of papers read here, is a unwarranted as it is objectionable. If you glanced at the notice of the papers in "The Times" yesterday morning, or at the postcard issued on Monday evening, both of which were sent to press before your letter was received, you will have noticed that the degree to which "Marie Stopes", whose real name I understand to be Mrs Gates, is entitled, had been added to her name, to supply the deficiency which occured accidentally in the list of probable papers sent to Nature last week.' |
