Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Harry Govier Seeley, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 23 September 1891 |
Description | Rix suggests that Seeley will see from the enclosed [not included] what the Royal Society Treasurer wants, and asks for his thoughts on the Treasurer's suggestion. He explains that omitting three of the plates will reduce the cost from 150 pounds to 125 pounds, but that 25 pounds will still need to be saved somewhere.
He believes it to be understood that Miss Woodward may begin on plate one as soon as possible. Although he has not written, Seeley may take this letter as written authority to ask her to begin work at the estimated cost for drawing of 15 pounds and 15 shillings. None of the other plates should be put in hand until he hears from Rix. He also states that West, Newman & Company will do the lithography, and that Woodward should get the stone from them. |
