| Description | Rix has only learnt this morning that the Treasurer, John Evans, is in France which explains the lack of a reply to Rix's telegram. In view of Rayleigh's view that £80 was too little, all Rix could do was send to Messrs Drake & Gorham to ask them to defer the matter if possible, but if they were absolutely forced to give an answer yesterday, they should decline. The Messrs say that the plant is very much out of date and £80 is a fair offer. Rix sends herewith a list of the things the Society is selling and it would be good for him to be armed with some authority so that he may know how to act if an immediate decision is necessary in future.
Professor Percy Frankland offers to exhibit [at the Soirée] crystals of active calcium glycerate. Rix will send Frankland the usual forms unless he hears to the contrary from Strutt.
