TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to James Gordon, Librarian, Royal Society of Edinburgh
Date25 April 1892
DescriptionGordon's note of the 23 April is the first intimation the Royal Society have received that Gordon prefers to have his 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' sent immediately upon publication. The great majority of Societies prefer to collect their 'Transactions' and have them dispatched when their several agents are making up parcels. Rix will file Gordon's letter and regard it as a standing order to send the 'Transactions' as issued.

Rix believes it is a very recent date that the Royal Society of Edinburgh have commenced sending their 'Transactions' with such promptitude. The Royal Society shall be delighted to reciprocate the convenience now that they know it is Gordon's wish.
