Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Professor Thomas George Bonney, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 16 June 1893 |
Description | The enclosed application [not attached] was considered by the President and Council today and Rix is directed to ask Bonney to advise them on the matter. The inquiry is a mixed one but it was agreed at some past meeting of the Government Grant Committee that the application was primarily belonging to [Board] D.
The Council naturally are adverse to the £500 being used for 'too late' claims but if on enquiry Bonney is of the opinion that the application is really an urgent one, or is one which ought to be granted, they are prepared to do so.
As Chairman of Board D Bonney has special opportunities to ascertain the nature and value of the application and the Council would in this manner like to carry out what would probably be the advice of the board if it came before them. |
