| Description | States that their reproductions are 'greatly superior' to those of another firm who accepted Mr Newton's plates, but it seems that their man has made a serious error in cutting them down. The correspondent clarifies that the lines on the original prints were merely to indicate the scale of enlargement if they were able to enlarge them in accordance with Newton's wish, but as they stated that they could not, they were instructed to make them the size of the negatives.
They ask if the plates will have to be done again to get them to the full size of the negatives. If so, they will have to pass plates 9 and 1, but 6 cannot be passed as they have cut off the head, 'which most animals think their most important part'. Asks to be informed about what is to be done, as Newton is distressed. In reference to Newton's correspondence, it is pointed out that nothing is said about cutting down. |
