| Description | Rix outlines his belief that Gustav Steffen is 'admirably adapted' to work on the Royal Society's 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers', having understood the intention of the work at once.
He explains that Steffen is currently occupied with journalism and work on a book on wages, for which he has been given an endowment, but that he would be willing to give up the majority of his journalistic work in favour of work on the catalogue. Some hesitation over giving up the whole of every day to it is noted, but Rix believes he would relent if Evans believed it necessary, and that an interview with Steffen would be worthwhile in any case.
Rix notes that Steffen delayed a planned trip to Paris in order to see Evans, and would be willing to stay until the 19 July if he cannot be seen before, but that an earlier meeting is preferable. He asks that Evans let him know when he can meet Steffen. |
