Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], [Royal Society] |
Date | 24 July 1894 |
Description | Rix reports that the number of plates in Professor Hartley's paper were reduced to one, and that the estimate for this plate from the Swan Electric Engraving Company was 24 pounds. He explained to Hartley that he doubted the Officers would be willing to meet this expense, and sent a specimen of Professor Joseph Norman Lockyer's plate by the Direct Photo-Engraving Company, which Hartley has stated is of a very satisfactory quality. Their estimate was for 5 pounds and 10 shillings, and Rix asks if he may put it in hand.
He also states that Lazarus Barlow has cut 20 figures and left two, as well as having considerably reduced the text. He asks if he may proceed with this paper. |
