Description | Descriptions of the contents of Royal Society exhibitions (termed conversaziones, or soirees) during the late Thirties, Forties and early Fifties. The events were traditionally held in May and June of each year, but exhibitions were not held during the Second World War. Additional receptions or conversaziones celebrating particular events, organisations or anniversaries are bound in and there is a typed contents list at the beginning of the volume. The catalogues contain brief numbered descriptions of displays and their exhibitors, arranged room-by-room, in Burlington House, London. The programmes have a distinctive title-page with standard information on the event, venue and date, with the name of the then-Royal Society President and an engraved image of the Royal Society's coat of arms. |
