Description | Plate 16, figures 29-32 and plate 17, figure 34 showing sections of the human medulla oblongata from the calamus scriptorius to the upper roots of the vagus nerves, and part of the raphe nuclei of the medulla oblongata. An additional unpublished figure labelled '25' appears bottom left, showing grey lamina from a human olivary body. Inscribed with publication and plate details. Graphite inscription bottom left reads 'Drawn by the author'. Signed in ink bottom right, 'June 1857 J. L. Clarke'. Embossed stamp verso top left reads 'Bristol Board'. The manuscript for this paper is wanting.
