DescriptionPapers and correspondence of physicist and ecologist Robert May. The extensive collection spans May's entire career. Earlier physics and mathematics material from his time at Harvard and the University of Syndey is present. His later work on ecology, biodiversity and infectious diseases at Princeton University, Imperial College London, and the University of Oxford, is also well-represented in the collection.

the collection contains working files for many of May's key areas of research, including drafts of papers and associated correspondence, as well as records related to his work as Scientific Advisor to the Government and President of the Royal Society.

ArrangementArrangement on hold, pending completion of collection appraisal.
AppraisalInitial appraisal decisions were taken when each portion of the collection was accessioned by the Society, but a formal appraisal and sorting process for the entire collection has not yet been carried out.
AccrualsA further 70 boxes were accessioned in 2017 from May's office in Oxford. An additional 14 boxes with various prizes and certificates were collected from the family home in 2019.
FindingAidsThere is no public finding aid for this collection. The Library team has an internal box list, though at present this is incomplete and listing work is on-going.
