Title | Referee's report by Hugh Frank Newall, on a paper 'On the enhanced lines of iron, titanium and nickel' by Frank E Baxandall |
Date | 29 January 1905 |
Description | The paper is of a controversial nature and discusses observations recorded in a paper by H M Reese, 'Astrophysical Journal', June, 1904. Newall thinks much of Baxandall's criticism of Reese justified but does not recommend the publication of the paper in Proceedings. The criticisms are lengthy and some of them can hardly be accepted as fair. It appears that there have been accidental omissions in a previous paper by Sir N Lockyer, 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', 65, page 452, and Newall wonders if it would be best to put the omissions on record. Otherwise it seems this paper might be sent to the editors of the 'Astrophyical Journal' for their consideration.
The plate accompanying the paper was broken when it reached Newall.
